Announcing Our First Azure Course: Getting Started with Microsoft Defender for Cloud

Introducing Cybr's Azure course: Beginner's Guide to Microsoft Defender for Cloud

We’ve been focused on AWS security for a while now, but here’s the thing: many of you work in multi-cloud environments or have been asking us to expand beyond AWS. We’ve been listening.

That’s why we’re excited to announce our very first Azure course now open for enrollment: Getting Started with Microsoft Defender for Cloud.

Microsoft Defender for Cloud Azure course on Cybr

Why This Course Matters

Microsoft Defender for Cloud is a cloud-native application protection platform (CNAPP) that brings together security posture management and workload protection across Azure, AWS, GCP, and on-premises environments.

Even if you’re not primarily an Azure shop, you could still benefit from going through this course since this is a service you can use across platforms.

The reality is that security teams are dealing with increasingly complex, distributed infrastructures. You need tools that can provide visibility and protection regardless of where your workloads live. That’s exactly what Defender for Cloud delivers, and that’s what this course will teach you to implement effectively.

What You’ll Learn

This isn’t just a theoretical overview course. By the end, you’ll know how to:

  • Configure and activate Microsoft Defender for Cloud across your Azure environment
  • Implement Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) and Cloud Workload Protection (CWP) strategies
  • Secure critical Azure resources including VMs, containers, storage accounts, and networks
  • Use secure score and compliance tracking for standards like NIST 800-53, CIS, and PCI DSS
  • Set up just-in-time VM access, private links, and conditional access controls
  • Automate threat remediation using Logic Apps and workflow automation
  • Detect and respond to threats using security alerts, Log Analytics, and Microsoft Sentinel integration

Who Should Take This Course

We designed this course for practitioners who need to get things done:

  • Cloud security engineers and architects working in Azure or multi-cloud environments
  • Azure administrators who want to add serious security capabilities to their skill set
  • SOC analysts who need to understand Azure-native security tools
  • DevOps and infrastructure teams responsible for implementing cloud security
  • Security consultants working with Microsoft technologies
  • Anyone preparing for Azure security certifications or taking on new Azure security responsibilities

What You Need to Know First

You definitely don’t need to be a cloud expert to take this course, but you should have:

  • An Azure account ready to go
  • An understanding of cloud computing fundamentals (what’s a VM, what services clouds provide, etc)
  • General cybersecurity and incident response awareness

Azure CLI or PowerShell experience is helpful but not required—we’ll show you what you need to know.

Why We’re Expanding to Azure

As security professionals, we need to understand how to secure workloads regardless of where they’re running. Microsoft Defender for Cloud has become a helpful tool for organizations running both Azure and external workloads, so it’s an important tool to know how to operate.

This course helps with exactly that.

What’s Next

While we’re expanding into a new category of training, our core commitment hasn’t changed: we aim to provide practical, hands-on security training that you can immediately apply in your environment. We’re not just teaching you about Defender for Cloud, we’re showing you how to implement it effectively as part of your cloud security strategy.

Whether you’re expanding your skills beyond AWS, implementing Azure security for the first time, or looking to get started with a CNAPP, this course will get you there.
