  • Is the CompTIA Security+ open book?

Nope! The CompTIA Security+ SY0-601 certification exam is not open book. You have a couple of options when scheduling your exam:

    • At home
    • At a testing center

If you choose to take the exam at home, you will have to have good internet and a webcam. The reason is because someone will literally be watching you take the exam to make sure you are not cheating. They’ll have you remove everything away from your desk, monitor, etc…

If you choose to take it at a testing center, then you’ll need to pick a location and show up at a specific date/time. Once there, they’ll ask you to empty your pockets, take off your watch, etc… You can’t go inside of the testing center with anything on you that might let you cheat. They’ll then assign you a computer to sit at and take the exam. They do give you a few sheets of paper so you can write notes if you want, though.
