  • CompTIA Security+ and Network+…which is easiest?

I saw a question yesterday that asked those who have gotten the trifecta (Network+, Security+, and A+) which of the exams was the hardest. If you plan on getting one or more of these certs, you might want to know that so you can start with the easiest and work your way to the hardest.

While I’ve only personally gotten the Security+ and have no intentions of getting the other two (because they’re not that relevant to what I need), this post on reddit suggests that the A+ is the hardest of the three because it covers such a vast amount of content. Others say the Network+ was hardest (or a close second) because there are so many protocols that you need to know.

Overall, most seem to say that Security+ was the easiest of the three. Of course, this is all relative and not meant to say that Security+ is a walk in the park.

Even if you have cybersecurity experience, prepare to learn a ton of acronyms and don’t skip preparing for the PBQs because they might catch you off guard. I talk more about 4 things that surprised me about the Security+ exam here.

Others say that the Network+ made the Security+ much easier since the S+ includes quite a few networking questions in it. So which one you start with is ultimately totally up to you and whether you feel more confident with networking (or are more interested in it), or whether you feel more confident with security-related topics.
