  • Can you get the Security+ without Network+?

Yup! Security+ does not have any pre-requisites, so you don’t need to pass Network+ (or any other cert) before you can attempt the Security+.

Some people prefer taking the Network+ before the Security+ because the sec+ does have some networking topics in it, and so preparing for the net+ first can make preparing for the sec+ easier.

I cover this topic in another answer, but most people tend to say that the Network+ is a bit more difficult to pass than the Security+ because there are so many protocols that you need to know.

So I’d say this: if you enjoy learning about networking (I don’t), and you don’t mind starting with harder first, then taking the Network+ first may be a good idea for you. If you don’t really like networking and you’re not needing/interested in getting the Network+, then I would take the Security+ first instead. Ultimately it’s up to you — this is not a dictated requirement.
