  • What’s your biggest issue in cybersecurity right now?

A vague question, but I’m curious to see what your biggest issue related to cybersecurity is right now. Is it that you’re trying to learn something new and it’s proving to be difficult to understand? Is it trying to convince management or your team that you need to implement xyz process/tool/technology? Maybe it’s that you can’t seem to get your foot in the door for a job interview? Or you simply don’t know where to get started?

Share/vent below, and maybe someone can lend a hand or provide some advice to help you break past it!

As someone trying to get back into cybersecurity after 2 decades not doing security work, the biggest issue I’m facing is getting back into the business. Security people tend to be a little resistant to outsiders in my experience, which makes getting back into security challenging. I hope that re-learning enough to show I have good general knowledge of security topics and modern issues will open doors for me again. I loved working in cybersecurity and want to do it again in the future.

I hear ya. As someone who started out in cybersecurity and then moved to other areas only to come back a few years later, I’ve experienced the same. That’s part of why this community even exists: to welcome you back with open arms 🙂
