Hello everyone, very excited to be on this fantastic platform! Im currently changing careers to Cybersecurity and I am interested in both the Network Security side of things and software – mainly python. I am studying for the CCNA and the Palo alto entry level cert at the moment and think a great place to start here is with this cloud course – Introduction to AWS Security. Do you think that is a good place to start as a beginner to Cloud and AWS? Thank you

Hey! Welcome to the community. We usually recommend the Introduction to AWS Security if you already have at least a little bit of prior AWS experience. It is *not* an Introduction to AWS itself; it’s an introduction to securing AWS environments and understanding common issues as well as commonly used AWS-native security services. If you don’t already have an AWS account set up, and you’ve messed around a bit, then you will be missing some important context. Hope this makes sense!

Hello All, My name is James and I have always been a tech lover. I used to do a lot of pcs and phones and even game systems back in the day. I recently got back into IT and tech and general 2 years ago after my divorce. My ex wife always had a problem with me being around technology too much which caused me to fall off for over a decade. Now I’m interested in cyber security and trying to learn as much as I can. I was recently in school to attain my bachelors for cybersecurity but decided to withdraw as there is a plethora of information I can get for free and if needed I can return to school to get that BS in cyber. So wish me luck as I’m doing this to give me and my kids a better life as a single father doing what he can.

Deleted UserMay 16, 2024 at 8:45 pmHi everyone, my name is Jennifer, I am currently an AWS Solutions Architect with a services company. I have been working with AWS for about 4 years. I have been studying cybersecurity for 9 months and gravitated towards pentesting. I recently asked my boss if I can work on AWS Pentesting in hopes to offer that service to our customers and he loved the idea and is going to reimburse me for my year sub 🙂
I hope to learn a lot and enough to start up a new team.

That’s awesome! Welcome to the community, Jennifer. We are a lot more active on Discord than here, so I would recommend joining there if you haven’t already (https://cybr.com/discord). Gotta love it when employers help cover cost of training :)!

ello everyone,
I recently signed up for this course after watching a captivating video on application security. Allow me to introduce myself: I am an Application Security Engineer with three years of experience working for a healthcare company. When I began my journey in this role, I had no idea what application security entailed, and unfortunately, I received no formal training. As a result, my work has largely been a process of trial and error.
My background in programming is quite limited, consisting mainly of self-paced classes that I have undertaken in my spare time. Despite these challenges, my commitment to learning and improving my skill set remains steadfast. I am particularly interested in understanding what to look for when securing an architectural design document, conducting secure code reviews, and developing a secure architecture design document.
Specifically, I am seeking to learn:
- What questions should I be asking during application security reviews?
- What steps should I take to develop a secure architecture design document?
- How should I conduct secure code reviews?
- What should I be looking for in the code to ensure security?
Moreover, I would like to gather resources and content that can guide me through these processes. This includes understanding the best practices, tools, and methodologies that are critical in application security.
One of my goals is to create How-To guides for developers with no security background, helping them understand and implement security measures effectively. Additionally, I aim to improve my communication with developers, ensuring that security considerations are integrated seamlessly into the development process.
I am eager to learn from this course and from all of you, to better secure applications and contribute more effectively to my organization. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and helping others succeed in the field of application security.
Thank you for having me here.

Hello, I am excited to join this community. I am hoping to land a job as a SOC analyst and have been in IT for a few years, with a knowledge of networking and lightly dipped my toe into http and some programming languages. I’m trying to find a platform that walks me through what I need to know a little different than the capture the flags like HTB, and Lets Defend. I’m hoping for something that can give me a good conceptual view to make it easier to grasp the nitty gritty details
- Where are you on your cybersecurity journey? What is your Current Role? [i.e. student, IT Professional, IT Educator, IT Recruiter, etc.]
- What is your current Cybersecurity Goal? [i.e.skill-building, Security+ certification or prep for specific job role, etc.]
- What do you NEED the most “from us” to help you succeed? [i.e. content, resources, courses or support]?
- What would you like to do to help others succeed in cybersec? [i.e. blog post, create How-To guides, create challenges, etc.?
