I’ve seen a number of resumes in previous roles as a hiring manager, and more recently as I’ve helped Cybr members get their resumes ready for the job search, and a lot of resumes have very basic issues that are preventing them from getting interviews.
While I’d definitely like to write a blog post at some point that compiles some of the top tips, here are two videos that you should absolutely watch from start to finish, and then implement the advice to your own resume.
The 1st one is with an IT recruiter that I’ve personally worked with, and she’s helped me hire fantastic talent. That also meant she was (and still is) a gatekeeper. If a resume didn’t meet her expectations, or if it didn’t impress her, it never even landed on my desk. Watch that episode twice if you need to!
The 2nd one is with Tom Sweet, who is a VP at a multi-billion dollar organization, and he’s hired plenty of people throughout his career. So the 1st episode will help you get past the IT recruiter (gatekeeper), and the 2nd episode will help you impress the hiring manager, so that you can get to the job interview.
Would love to hear your thoughts on which of the tips helped you. Also, if you want your resume reviewed, you can submit it here.
